I have observed that prolonged culture periods are associated with increased cell attrition in my current system. Two non-exclusive explanations remain plausible: (1) stress intrinsic to the culture environment may reduce viability; and (2) developmentally programmed selection may account for part of the loss. At present, it remains unclear which factor predominates in my case.
Potential batch-to-batch variability further complicates interpretation, limiting my ability to draw definitive conclusions about optimal conditions or to fully validate the working hypothesis. Nevertheless, I can identify consistent trends under specific, well-controlled settings. For now, I will prioritize collecting more granular, quantitative readouts within the existing framework and defer exploratory alternatives to avoid confounding the analysis. My intent is to consolidate the observations and prepare a manuscript when the dataset is sufficiently validated.
